Why Attend?

Darren Trivett
The National Conference has given me the opportunity not only to hear some outstanding speakers across a diverse range of topics but also meet peers from across the country in a relaxed environment. The depth of the program and topics are relevant to anyone within the property industry.

I have attended the National Property Conference for the last few years, and each year I find the speakers interesting and engaging with many networking opportunities over the two days. This year I have had the pleasure of working with the organising committee and I think the topics on offer are even more closely aligned with valuers than ever.

Being an API member for the past 4 years, starting off as a Student and currently being an Associate member, I have always been interested in what my representative body has to offer. The National Property Conference is one of the major API yearly events and I am looking forward to attending my first one. Not only because of the wide range of topics, quality of speakers and sunny Gold Coast location but because I can say g’day to my fellow API members from all over the country and find out what’s happening in their neck of the woods.

Given the scale and pace of change we are all experiencing in our workplaces it is imperative that each individual takes ownership for prioritising their professional development. This includes taking the time to seek feedback and establishing meaningful goals and areas of focus for your development. Within the Property industry, attendance at external events including those run by the Australian Property Industry is an excellent way to keep up-to-date with industry trends and innovation and are a great opportunity to network and build your own personal brand within the industry.

This year API will be supporting the work carried out by the Property Industry Foundation.

The mission of the Property Industry Foundation is to make a tangible difference to the serious and persistent problem of youth homelessness. This is achieved by partnering with respected charities to build safe environments and initiatives focused on education, employment and well-being.

In Australian, 42 per cent of homeless people are under 25 years old*. Our target is to build 125 bedrooms between 2017 and 2021 to provide safe and secure bedrooms for young people with no safe place to sleep.

PIF is our industry’s charity: building homes and providing vital support for young people in need through the generosity of donors, property consultants, builders, suppliers and supporters. They provide their time, expertise, goods and services as either in-kind or cash contributions, which enables the Foundation to build more bedrooms.

Find out how you can support PIF at www.pif.com.au.
